Life in the big ole town of KC is going well. Its starting to feel like home a little, minus the fact that there is no Rio Grande, No Family, No "friends", No Dirty KANAWHA River, No little kids that I know, NO part time jobs worth working, No Free Movies, No ERNC, No Easter Cantatas, NO WEDNESDAY OR SUNDAY EVENING SERVICES, NO gathering with Friends to eat out after church, and most f all NO WVU FANS...so maybe its not feeling like home, I was trying cut me a break! I will say though that if it werent for the KCUYC (Urban Youth Center) I prolly wouldnt feel so at home here. That place seriously at times feels like my home away from home, maybe its because I have known them for 2 years now and they are so open and accepting, but I absolutely LOVE those kids!!!! I have been volunteering at the new site which is East Hills Village and the kids are younger and a lot of fun, and I am starting to really connect there also. Tonight at KCUYC, Morgan one of my girls from the center, found out that I had been volunteering at both places and she was mad. She said, and I quote " Your Cheating on us, how they gonna take a volunteer from us?" What she doesnt know is that i wasnt necessarily taken, I volunteered to go, I actually really like the other site and all the good things that are happening! I know its just a matter of time until the programming there really takes off and its as good there as it is on Troost (which is where the other center is).
But enough of that , I will hopefully, all fingers crossed be joining some of the workers at the youth center on a trip to LA, CA in May for an National Urban Youth Workers Conference, I was asked to go along with them, and I am very excited for this opportunity, who knows where it could lead. Please continue to pray for me and the job situation, things at Payless are the best and are really starting to weigh me down. I do appreciate everyone from back home who reads this and cares about me and whats going on out here. Its encouraging to know that my friends and family truly care!!!
" Thank you for the Cross Lord, Thank you for the price You paid, bearing all my sin and shame in love You came, and gave amazing grace."

March Madness..... and I dont mean Basketball
Well March is definately in full swing. Things have been super crazy which is one reason as to why I haven't updated this things in FOREVER and I figured I may need to update you all.
March has started out with craziness. I was involved in an Urban Immersion weekend the first weekend in March. It was a part of one of my classes. We visited various non-profit organizations and churches on Sat. and Sun. We started the weekend off with a church service with undocumented hispanics and then went to the Guadalupe center, which is in the Hispanic area of KC, it was really neat to see the building it is on record at a historical landmark because of the significance and history of the building it was beautiful. The whole day was spent going going going, we went to a place called Gracious Promise/Grandma House which is kind of life a restart for people who have been incarcerated and Grandma's House is for babies whose mothers had them while in prison its a really neat concept. Anyways we went to the homeless shelter also, which was my favorite part of the day, we ate lunch with the gentlemen at the center, I met a guy named Jack, he was really open and it was great to meet him and get to know him. On Sunday we went various churches throughout the community, my favorite place was Grand Avenue Temple Baptist Church. Its a church in inner city KC, and most of the people there are homeless. I sat in the floor of the church, there were people laying in the pews and the floor it was seriously an eye opening experience.
Enough of the fun weekend experience, this month has also been full of other things such as my 24th bday!!! Me and a few of my friends went to the RainForest Cafe for dinner, it was my first time there, and it was a Blast!!!! Here are a few pictures from the evening

The top picture is of me and my light up smoothie cup! The one to the left is me and my roommate sarah and the one on the right is me and my friend shaun from MVNU.
It was a fun night, we came back to my house and had cake and icecream and them I CRASHED!!!!
This past week has been reading and research week A.K.A. spring break. I have been trying to become motivated and get some work done, however I have not been productive at all .... not a good things I have so much to do and no time to do it between work, internships and classes. My work at the youth centers is going really well. I have started volunteering at the new sight also, the kids are younger and so its a different atmosphere all together, we took the kids skating on Wednesday and it was a total blast, they had the old school skates no roller blades and i thought i was gonna fall and break my neck!!! On Tuesday i went to power play with the KCUYC and i tell you what it was totally fun!!! I played laser time for the first time in prolly 7 or 8 years!!! and I was ranked #6 of 18 players, i would have to say I am amazing!!!!
Easter Sunday was a blast, we went to Kim Tharp's house for dinner and it was a great time to get to know other people from church and seminary that we hadnt met before. Now its nap time , or at least it was suppose to be ive been all caught up watching movies!!!
Hopefully I will try and update a little more once things start to calm down!!!! Continue praying for me and God's will for my life. I am hoping to come home soon its definately time to take a trip and get away from this place!!!!! Take care and you all have a wonderful week!!!
