I thank God for Answered Prayers

A little change to the Garth Brooks song, but very appropriate! I am definately thanking God for answering Prayers! Just when I thought things couldnt turn around and be ok, God showed me! I got an email on Thursday morning from the youth center and ... I have been offered the job!!! Praise the Lord. It will be part time 20 hours a week and I am super excited!!! I start June 2nd. I am very very thankful for everyones thoughts and prayers!!! I am super excited to see where this leads and all the new responsibilities that are coming my way! I am going to have to drop down to part time at Payless also, so that I can still have a pretty decent paycheck(s) coming in. I havent told my manager yet... so keep me in your prayers yet again, Im not for sure how she is going to take it! Other than that things are going really well. I worked the Troost Festival yesterday with the center. For those of you WVians its kinda like Grit Fest... I mean RiverFest in St. Albans. Except its in the middle of KC. Troost was and kinda still is the dividing line for whites and blacks in KC and once a year they show case the "good" aspects of the community and so the center which is on Troost set up a table and passed out school supplies and met some more children and families from the area. It was definately an experience. I had to park about 1 1/2 blocks away from the actual festival and I parked by a bus stop, I of course was by myself, and these nasty old black men were getting off the bus and were like "Hey beautiful how are you.." I was like oh crap!!! Keep walking!!! It was pretty funny. But other than that the festival was a lot of fun, I got to see a few dance crews here some local talent, and smell the BBQ!!!! And another plus was the weather was absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!!
Today after church we went to Joyce and Tom Shanks house, they are people from Nall. We had grilled chicken, baked potatoe, peas, salad and the best peanut butter cup dessert Ive ever had in my life. Joyce also had me make a charm for my cell phone! I felt so crafty!!!
There are three weeks of school left and 1 month until I go CA. I have back to back baby showers the next two weeks, and I tell ya what its been busy! Other than that life is life... if only the weather will stay this beautiful... I went to a Royals game 2 Fridays ago and it was in the 30's and then today was in the 80's this weather is crazier than OHIO weather!!! Well I miss everyone and I hope to be able to come home soon!!!!

So, it has been a crazy few weeks. School is going good, I am starting to get caught up on things that I have so graciously put on the back burner until now! Im what you would call a procrastinator, always have been always will be :) Ive learned to deal and manage with it quite well !!! But anyways, Ill just give you a quick overview of what has happened lately. I have still been going strong at both centers, its starting to get very crazy, but its definately worth it, I have a blast. I also have a second interview at the KCUYC on Tuesday April 15th, so if you can think about it, say a little prayer for me. These kids are truly my passion, I love them so much and I would just love to be able to spend everyday with them. I was also able to meet some of the parents at the East Hills sight, we went door to door with a survey on Friday. Finding out if a child care facility was needed on sight. So we will see how that goes. It was definately an eye opening experience seeing how these kids live, in one of the apts. the decorations were empty bottles after bottles of vodka,Jim Bean, Jack Daniels, etc. those were decorations? it was crazy. It definately makes you appreciate what you have a little more, even if its not a lot. Tomorrow is opening day at Royals Stadium, and I am working concessions with a friend of mine, for her sons school.... plus they are playing the YANKEES!!!! GO DEREK JETTER:) so its a little incentive for me also... well thats pretty much it, I need to head out for center!
