Life Thus Far... where to start. I have been in KC, MO ( thats what they call it out here) for 5 1/2 months and boy has it been an adventure.
I have learned that KC is the coldest place on the face of this earth. God decided not to give them any mountains and therefore the wind blows and you think you are going to die from the cold. I haven't seen green grass since October. Its always snow or ice or mud. Not a good time. I will say though that when its hot its hot and when its cold its cold. I am ready for the hot, or I think so at least.
Since being here I have volunteered once a week at the Urban Youth Center. The kids down there are just a blessing. I have learned so much about myself through them. They are definitely the best part of my week. Most of the kids are still there from two summers ago, however the staff has changed. The workers who were there when I was there are gone now, that took a little getting use to , but they are just as great at the old.I also help out with the youth group at my church. I go to the Harrisonville Church of the Nazarene and there are about 30 youth. It has been a great experience, we go out to eat with them every Sunday night. They are a blast and its nice to have that connection. Makes me feel more at home.
I was also able to go to High School Musical on Ice. And I think I will be going to see professional bull riding in March, and the Gaithers in May!!! I am very excited about both. I have made a great group of friends, from a large variety of areas. We are a good group though, we hang out alot and are always having fun. It the first time that I have felt that I have true friends, not ones that are going to leave me high and dry, but will be there. It refreshing and encouraging to know that when your doing God's will he will provide people of encouragement and likeness.
Well I have been working at Payless shoes and feel as if my paycheck goes to SHOES!!! Im an addict but its ok. I have been doing better. I am however trying to find a new job and will see where that goes. I am meeting on Tuesday with the director of the Youth Center and he wants to speak with me about where God is leading me and where the center is heading and wants to see if those two things may cross paths, who know what will come from it, but just keep me in your prayers.
I finished my first semester with a 3.0 and was very proud of myself. I worked hard for my grades, more so now then in my undergrad, I am actually doing the work, Im still waiting until the end, but I am doing it and following through. To me its just an encouragement and shows me that if I give God everything he will direct my path.
God's presence is definitely guiding me on this journey, I have had many opportunities to reach those in need and am so thankful that I have answered the call. I am really going to try to keep this up so that people get a little better idea of what I am going through out here.
Song of the Day: Jesus Paid it All
"Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe
sin has left a crimson stain, He washed
it white as snow."
