You may be thinking this is an odd title for a post, but I was in my City in Theological Perspectives class today, and our fill in professor was speaking about the story in Matthew of the Widow and how the key word in the passage is WIDOW she was giving all she had to the church, when in all actuality the church was to be providing for the widow. He said that he was in Africa a few years ago and there was a discussion between various students and an American student made a comment about forgetting to put their car in the garage before they left for Africa and with the weather being crazy they should have put it in the garage, the African student was confused and asked what a garage was, the American student tried explaining that it was a separate place for your car, and the African student made the comment, " You have a house for your car?" WOW talk about a smack in the face. I sit and complain about not having money for gas, or something petty like a night out with friends, and people in other countries are amazed that we have "houses" for our cars, it really makes you think, what does the world think about you and your money? or in my case lack thereof? It just really made me think, that we take a lot for granted here.
Now that Im off my soap box, classes are in full bloom, I wrote out my schedule for the next few months and boy am I going to be slammed, barely even time to breathe. Classes are going to be very interesting though and I am pretty excited about that. I am going to get to participate in an Urban Immersion weekend in KC, which I am super excited about. Tonight I am going roller skating with the kids at the youth center. I dont think I have been skating since my freshman year at MVNU. Its been a great week and I am looking forward to a great semester. Tomorrow I am getting certified in CPR which I have never done before, so Im a little nervous but it will be good! Well I had better be off, its 5:30 and I am heading out to the center. Oh and I got a valentine package in the mail today!!! It was filled with all sorts of goodies it made my day!!!
